Lexicon Explorer Help
Lexicon Explorer is the no-login place to inspect imported lexicons without saving anything to an account.
Best For
- Checking a VulgarLang export before using it elsewhere.
- Filtering a large word list and copying or downloading one useful column.
- Extracting phonology from uploaded pronunciations without creating a saved lexicon.
Typical Workflow
- Upload one VulgarLang export, or upload matching languages and words JSON files.
- Use search, lexicon selection, and page-size controls to find the entries you need.
- Export normalized JSON for Mundifex-compatible reuse, or export a single filtered column.
- Open the phonology extraction modal when pronunciations are present.
Accepted Inputs
- VulgarLang JSON or text exports.
- Compatible languages*.json and words*.json files.
- Built-in seed lists such as Swadesh, Leipzig-Jakarta, Dolgopolsky, Holle, and related starter lists.
Outputs
- Normalized Mundifex lexicon JSON.
- Plain-text column exports for spellings, pronunciations, translations, parts of speech, etymologies, or lexicon names.
- Forwarded phonology data for the Simple Sound Change Generator.
Limits And Access
- Explorer is browser-only and does not save data to your account.
- Very large files depend on browser memory and may be easier to handle in Lexicon Studio after trimming.
Troubleshooting
- If import fails, validate the JSON and upload matching language and word files together.
- If phonology extraction is empty, check that entries include pronunciation data rather than only spellings.
