Sound Change Applier Help
Sound Change Applier runs ordered historical sound changes over word lists in the browser or through a stateless API.
Best For
- Applying generated or hand-written SCA rules to many words.
- Saving and loading local JSON workspaces.
- Batching deterministic sound changes through a REST endpoint.
Typical Workflow
- Enter categories, rewrite rules, sound changes, and one word or entry per line.
- Use -* markers when you need intermediate stages.
- Apply rules, inspect output, and download results.
- Save JSON, copy a share URL, or use the API for automated runs.
Accepted Inputs
- SCA-style categories, rewrite rules, and sound-change rules.
- Plain text word lists or lexicon entries.
- Mundifex JSON workspaces or .sc workspaces.
Outputs
- Applied word-list output.
- Downloadable results.
- Saved JSON workspace.
- Share URL.
Limits And Access
- The public API accepts up to 10,000 entries per request.
- Browser workspaces are local unless you explicitly use the stateless API.
Troubleshooting
- If a rule does nothing, check the environment marker and category names.
- If output is surprising, enable intermediate stages and inspect which pass changed the word.
